To evaluate the effect of clearance between two-stage turbine impellers on the power consumption in stirring vessel with multiple stage impellers, the torque of water and corncyrup was measured, using the stirring vessels whose ratio of liquid height to diameter is 5. Three geometrically similar stirring vessels were used, changing the distance between two stage turbine impellers. From the results obtained, the relation between the ratio of torque torque of two impellers T₂ to that of one impeller T₁,T₂/ T₁, and Reynolds number Nʀℯ was expressed as follows: 1) T₂/ T₁ had the minimum value at Ɩ/Di ≒ 0.3. The minimum value was obtained 1.4 at Nʀℯ > 1.0 × 10². T₂/ T₁ as a function of Nʀℯ at Nʀℯ < 1.0 × 10² can be expressed by the relation. T₂/ T₁ = 1.0・Nʀℯ º•º⁸ Nʀℯ = 1.5 × 10¹ ~ 1.0 × 10² 2) T₂/ T₁ obtained the constant value at Ɩ/Di > 1.0. The constant value was 2.0 at Nʀℯ > 2.5 × 10² and it can be expressed as a function of Nʀℯ > 2.5 × 10² by the following relation. T₂/ T₁ = 0.9・Nʀℯº•¹⁴ Nʀℯ = 1.5 × 10¹~ 2.5 × 10²
