地形, 標高の異なる3つの山地流域に著者らが設置した数多くの雨量計から得られた降雨量データに基づき, これを統計的に解析し, かつレーダー雨量計出力との比較を通して地形性降雨の水文学的特性を抽出することを行ったものである. この結果, 1) 山地斜面の降雨量は標高に対してほぼ線型に増大しており, その実験式を提案した. 2) この線型回帰式の勾配も降雨強度, 降雨量とともに大きくなっている.3) 非地形性降雨の雷雨の場合には1) の結果はあてはまらない. 4) 山麓あるいは平地で観測した降雨量から山地流域の平均降雨量を推定する式を提案しており, その結果山地部は平地の約3割増しの降雨があることがわかった. 5) 観測時間スケール (5分から60分)
