Taylor vortex around Hopf bifurcation are examined by PIV system and simulated by numerical calculation. Because the height of the annulus (l) is finite compared to the gap width (d), various bifurcations occur in this apparatus. So far, a radius ratio was supposed not to have big influences on the flow structure. But the experiment by the sudden acceleration of the inner cylinder with a small radius ratio showed that there was an area where the anomalous two-cell mode appears peculiarly. On the other hand, it was found out that small initial amplitude influenced the formation of the vortex oscillation greatly as a result of the numerical calculation. |
