A thin ultrasonic linear motor using combination of thin longitudinal vibrations cut from a rectangular plate proposed for considering the possibility of simple design and structure of an ultrasonic linear motor using resonance vibrations. A pair of longitudinal vibrators arranged in line generates a thrust, and the remaining one arranged in parallel with others controls a frictional force. Those can be individually controlled. Especially, the largest force can be generated by using the displacement of the side face on the nodal line of the vibrator for the friction control, and the influence of preload is made a minimum A frictional material stuck on the connected part of the stator vibrator transfers a slider. This paper reports the design of stator vibrator by the finite method and some experimental results of motor performance. The practical motor was successfully constructed. |
