The purpose of this paper is to observe the ellipsis phenomenon of subjects occurring in these coordinate structures and explicate some principles governing the subject elision. Section 2 presents the distribution of occurrence of subjects in terms of coreference and then formulates semantic principles as well as syntactic ones. Section 3 demonstrates the fact that discourse principles play an important role in the subject ellipsis. Section 4 leads us to the conclusion that the subject appearance of coordinate sentences is explained exhaustively on the basis of three different aspects, including syntax,semantics,and discourse analysis}, pages = {73--110}, title = {等位文の主語の省略}, volume = {41}, year = {1991}, yomi = {ハシモト, クニヒコ} }
