Flow characteristics of a jet was organized by a penetration height of jet depended on the jet-to-freestream momentum flux ratio. The resuｌts showed that the penetration height was proportional to thejet-tｏ-freestream momentum flux ratio to the power of 0.68 (M1 = 1.7) or 0.70 (M1 = 3.3). Furthermore, in order to investigate the interaction between boundary layer on the flat plate and shock wave generated by the transverse sonic jet, chamcteristics of separated boundary layer and bow shock wave were observed. The separated boundary layer region and scale of bow shock could be found to be increased as the jet-to-freestream momentum flux ratio increased. The results also showed that the shock wave/boundary layer interaction had influenced on the penetration height of
