Here, to restrain occurrence of the highfrequency components in dynamic response of the beam under impact loading, a plain elastomeric rubber pad was placed on the impacted area of the beam. From this study, following results are obtained: (1) maximum vertical displacement at the loading point was linearly increased with an increment of the input energy; and (2) all beams considered here were failed by the impacted area of the upper flange being locally deformed regardless of loading
