The comments revealed strengthened regard for precision and clarity both in thinking and expressing, in terms of criticism against weak evidence and inadequate explication, proposal for reduced redundancy and alteration for academic vocabulary. The graduates\u0027 revisions were more academic in that they were of highly stratified structure, made explicit by use of meta phrases and discourse markers. The contents were also more academic in that they included explicit mention of presupposition and detailed descriptions of each stage of reasoning, which were likely to facilitate the reader\u0027s understanding. The results of interviews showed that observed improvements in expression were motivated not by mere conforming to models and rules but by internalized appreciation of effectiveness, and that various
